Description:

Welcome to Superstars in Time! The MOD that tried recreating the Action Turned Based combat system of the Mario & Luigi RPG games, like Superstar Saga or Partners in Time.

The characters and setting are A Hat in Time, but the gameplay… is something completely new and different.

!!! Important Info – Read before playing !!!

– Play on a Hat Kid save file.

– No hats or badges are needed. Their use is handled in-mod.

– Set all audio options to 100%. (Otherwise some sounds may appear louder or quieter than intended. If music gets too loud, adjust system or speaker volume.)

– If you can, play on at least 60 FPS, and once the level’s started, try not to change graphical options.

– The majority of the game is heavily timing based, so try not to pause mid-battle unless necessary.

-The level may take several minutes to load for the first time, but to compensate, there will be no loading screens afterwards. Please be patient.

– For the intended experience, use the Default Skin at all times and headphones/earbuds if you can.

– Also, do not use any music remixes or mods that replace base animations, skins or music with new ones.

About the MOD:

In case you are not familiar with the Mario & Luigi RPG games (M&L for short), they are a series of turn based RPGs with a twist:

In battle, you don’t just issue commands and wait. You have to time your actions well to deal more damage or dodge incoming attacks; hence the battles are more fast paced and rely on reflexes, rather than strategy. This is what this MOD is all about.

There is no level up system in the mod, though, and all the battles are pre-made (and not random encounters), so you can get right into them and don’t have to worry about preparations or grinding.

Key Features:

– In Battle, control both Hat Kid and Bow Kid at the same time! Both of them have their own Actions Buttons which you use for attacking as well as defending.

– Use Solo attacks like stomping and umbrella whacking…

– Or attack with both girls at the same time to perform powerful moves called Sis Attacks (originating from the M&L series’ Bros. Attacks). Each girl has their own set of 5 unique Sis Attacks for a total of 10 (unlocked as you progress through the MOD).

– Dodge incoming enemy attacks by jumping, hitting with your umbrella, or with the new Jump’n’Dive technique.

– In case you take damage, use Items to heal yourself or Revive your fallen teammate.

– Outside of battle, explore a custom HUB world to get from level to level.

– Talk to NPCs to get useful hints for the battles ahead.

– Go into the Practice Area and train to your heart’s content.

– Mess around with Bow Kid who follows you where ever you go.

Content:

– Play through ALL 7 chapters of A Hat in Time (DLC included).

– Each chapter consists of 1-2 smaller battles and then a Boss fight.

– The mod mainly focuses on said bosses. They are super tough, have many attacks and multiple phases. Can you beat them all?

– Original boss fights included for chapters that normally lack them (Alpine Skyline, The Arctic Cruise and Nyakuza Metro).

– After beating the 7 chapters, extra Death Wish fights await for The Mafia Boss, The Movie Directors, Snatcher and Mustache Girl. They are a core part of the MOD, and are accessed from within the level.

-The whole MOD takes about 4+ hours to finish (probably more for the first time playing). No need to do it in one sitting though. Each time a Checkpoint prompt appears, your overall progress has been saved, and next time you can continue from the last battle you were on.
