Expanded L4D2 Common Infected Variations
I was never fond of L4D2’s default common infected heads. The heads, while being diverse model wise, lacked any originality in the form of textures.
The default heads had only a whopping 5 texture variations for males (three of which were based on the exact same bald white guy), and only 4 for females – which, when compared to L4D1 was a massive downgrade. Additionally, there were only 7 diverse head models, all of which felt lazy, bland, and boring to look at.
However, this mod seeks to improve that by adding over.. fuark… that’s alot 150+ different head/texture variations per zombie. These additional head variations are mixed in with the default common heads, all of which do not conflict with the original game’s artstyle whatsoever and feature functioning gore and burn textures. This is all done using a super duper lightweight randomization system that takes full advantage of the common infected shader.
depending on demand i might make a version that uses the l4d1 head textures so that they fit the GRITTY BEYTA artstyle.
Additionally, these models include support for Extended Common Infected. Feel free to delete the original mod, as this one is a compelte replacement.
- mudmen can now spawn with either a tanktop or overalls! they also have much more deformed, screwed up faces.
- military zombies have now been completely redone. they now use improved enforcement assets (thanks sirwololo and wendigo!). They have a chance of spawning with helmet, gear, goggles etc. instead of the t shirts they usually spawned with. i thought this looked better than the shirt and cargo pants they usually spawned with.
- fireman zombies now spawn with more variations! they now have a chance to have a helmet, goggle, no helmet, or gasmask.
- cargo pant men zombies may spawn with a tanktop aswell. ruh roh. a whopping one additional variation.
- biker and construction worker 2 zombies now have a 30 percent chance to be fat. i thought it’d be a neat little experiment and would make them a bit of a unique encounter.
