Description:

MARCH 2, 2003

Alright, listen up! Our spooks in the CIA are still in the process of sifting through the intel we found in the MRSU’s Alaskan airbase, but they’ve just found something significant that warrants our immediate attention: using various shell companies located within both Alaska and British Columbia, the MRSU was able to acquire several recently decommissioned Cold War-era missile defence facilities along the Boundary Ranges and have since brought their defenses back online. Needless to say, having ex-Soviets in possession of our older bases and potentially using it for some false flag operation against the Russians is far from ideal for everyone; the White House has therefore asked our Canadian counterparts to assist in a special operation to expel the old Commies from our soil.

However, we’ve also had some minor complications to our current mission. For one, Mother Nature doesn’t seem to be rather cooperative today–a rather large hurricane’s currently going through the region we’re in and buffeting all of our planes in the sky. On top of that, our operatives on the ground have confirmed that the old SAMs in the repurposed facilities are fully operational and will definitely be a problem for us; we should definitely know, considering we’re the people who originally placed those defenses there. As a result, we’ll have to be creative in order to clear the way for our NATO allies already waiting on the ground…

To that end, we’ve come up with a slightly crazy plan: we’ll be navigating along the Chilkat River Valley towards the main MRSU facility itself, using the mountains for cover from SAMs and interference from the hurricane itself to mask our approach. Needless to say, our pilots will have to be careful so as to avoid smashing into the side of the surrounding mountains, especially with both the hurricane and the MRSU themselves conspiring to get our collective asses; the Valley itself will be our sole way of both getting into the facility and getting back to the Nimitz for refuelling and resupplies. Be precise with your actions, and you’ll both make it out of this alive and guarantee that these Soviets won’t; good luck!

MISSION OBJECTIVES

1. Destroy the MRSU facility and its defenses
2. Destroy the other SAM sites within the AO (optional)

ASSETS

– The USS Nimitz and its aircraft
– 2x Sacramento-class fast combat support ships

ENEMY FORCES

– Multiple AA and SAM facilities
– Possible enemy helicopters

IMPORTANT INTEL

– There is a limited civilian presence within the region, but none near the MRSU facility itself
– SAM sites may target aircraft not underneath the cover of the valley or the current weather
– Inclement weather may limit the visibility of our aircraft
– Ensure that your aircraft does not exceed an altitude of 3000 ft as much as possible to avoid getting caught by SAMs while in the valley
– The valley is both the infil and exfil route for all aircraft heading towards the MRSU facility

Good luck!
