Operation Lion’s Shield
This is my first full scenario, so if anybody has constructive criticism, please let me know in the comments! I may also make more scenarios based on this world in the future.
Also: yes, I know the scenario isn’t exactly realistic, but it’s fun.
Following the successful ‘August Coup,’ the Soviets launched a 3-front invasion of Europe. Being isolated from the bulk of their allies, Turkey, Greece, and Norway quickly fell to the Red Army. Following another month of fighting in Germany and Italy, though, the frontlines ground to a halt and became reminiscent of WW1. Luckily for the Soviets though, they were prepared for this possibility and went ahead with their prepared amphibious invasion of Scotland.
Early on the morning of September 27th, a SATINT revealed the departure of *many* soviet warships from Murmansk. Throughout the day, reports came in from Norwegian informants about a large soviet task force travelling along the coast. From the reports and images, analysts concluded that the Soviets were launching an amphibious invasion of a size they’ve never before attempted. The unexpectedness of an invasion, especially in this area, caught NATO off-guard, and their defense forces are severely outnumbered. Regardless, it is now up to you, the commander of the USS Nimitz’s Surface Action Group to prevent the landing from taking place.
More information is in the mission briefing. Good luck!
