Operation Cold Shoulder
Faroe Islands, 1st August 1985
On the eve of war, the Soviet Union executed a bold amphibious assault, seizing the Faroe Islands to strangle the vital GIUK Gap. With troops and equipment massing for further strikes into the North Atlantic and Iceland, Moscow threatens to dominate the region and cripple NATO’s strategic footing. In response, a Marine amphibious group surges toward the islands, while air wings converge overhead to hammer Soviet defenses. The Battle of the Faroe Islands is about to begin.
