Description:

ALL CREDIT goes to Jerzat! I merely made their mod up-to-date. This mod increases the minimum settler spawning distance between civilizations and city states at the start of the game based on your input in advanced settings when creating your game.

CAUTION: It is strongly advised that you read and abide by the recommended max settings in each respective setting.

_______________________Original Mod Description________________________
This simple mod allows setting custom minimum starting distances between players, between players and city-states, and between city-states.

You can customize distances from the new game setup menu, right below map type and features.
Default values are unedited, feel free to input you own values (see notes below).

Works both for single and multiplayer, but was made with multiplayer in mind, where players spawning too close often results in early wars for position and rage quits or long term disadvantage.

Guidelines and notes
– If the map contains too little land, not well distributed land, or too many players, the minimum distance will be ignored for certain players and they may spawn at any distance. This varies with map sizes. Default value is 9, in a Continents Small map with 6 players, 15 is a good high limit. AI players will sometimes move a few tiles before founding their capital.
– Again, if the map contains too little or ill distributed land, minimum city-states distance (both among themselves and with players) set too high will prevent some city-states from spawning at all if there are no available positions left. Consider increasing these values very little (10 is a good high limit).
– Increased starting position distances means that spawning points will be somewhat closer to available land edges (coastline and top/bottom map edge).

Gameplay implications
– Spawning at increased distance makes it harder to wage war during the first two eras.
– Barbarians will be harder to deal with with less help from other civs and city-states and less active line of sight to prevent them from spawning.

Compatibility
– Works with any of the game’s base maps.
– This mod overrides AssignStartingPlots.lua, so it is not compatible with map generators and mods which also override this, such as YnAMP, since they specify their own rules for spawn locations.
