Crusader in vanilla darkest dungeon fills a niche role of being a support bruiser, I and others have felt his power decreases as a potential bruiser/tank and increases as a support/stunner as the game goes on. I have felt the crusader lacked significantly to his peers in leper and man at arms in the later stages of the game and against most modded enemy types from poplar mods like Black Reliquary, with leper taking the bruiser tank role almost entirely at champion and higher.
This mod reworks crusader to not only fit the role he already played in the game better as a support/stunner, while now making it viable for him to be a dedicated tank/bruiser similar to DD2 Crusader by adding additional damage options and sustainability to his base game skills, while setting up new class synergies with his added abilities.
Base Stats: Crusader now has base prot on his armor as he is wearing armor it makes no sense that he is just as squishy as highwayman in regards incoming damage. Starting at 5% at level 0, scaling to 15% base prot at level 4.
Smite: now has a crit modifier at all levels to bring crusader on par with every other class’ base melee ability in the game.
Zealous Accusation: is now single target, keeping its original properties and damage/damage modifiers but now gaining restoration for crusader starting at 1pt/1rd at level zero, scaling to 2pts/3rds at level 4.
Stunning Blow: unchanged.
Bulwark of Faith: now adds Aegis and Restoration instead of prot, and no longer self marks. This ability has two charges per battle and now gives crusader the ability to recover on his own and setup to block incoming damage adding a bigger skill cap to the ability. At level 0 Bulwark provides 1 Aegis and Restoration at 1pts/1rd, scaling to 2 Aegis and 2pts/2rds of Restoration at level 4.
Battle Heal: carries its original properties and stats as a omni position heal while having the added ability to remove stuns from your party.
Holy Lance: The longsword has always been one of the most versatile weapons in history and was designed for reach, adaptability, and piercing strikes. I always thought it odd that the only longsword wielding character in the game didn’t have a riposte let alone mainly used it to swing like a club. Holy lance can now target rank one and activates a riposte while still only being fire-able from ranks 3,4.
Inspiring Cry: unchanged.
