USS North Dakota BB-73
The USS North Dakota is the sister ship of the USS Michigan. After the development of a new 457mm gun, the second ship of the class replaced her 16 406mm guns for 12 457mm. The change was however considered
disappointing. While the new guns were more powerful, their penetration value was not much superior. Also, since the 16in gun has a faster reload speed, the amount of damage dealt by the 16 smaller weapons was still higher. The change was not repeated on other battleships of the class.
