Description:

This mod aims to enhance the "Extreme" unit size settings, bumping the amount of a unit cohort by 1.25x from 240 to 300, 60 to 75 and so on. As a bonus I’ve also slightly reduced the amount of flag bearers per unit (20%).

*Set your unit size in game to Extreme*
Put this mod near the top of your load order, under the Bug Fix 1.7.2 mod for example.

Performance should be great if you’re already running extreme settings with room to spare. I found the game engine hits its limit at 1.5x unit size and above, animations become choppy and sluggish with low CPU and GPU usage.

Please note that third party unit re-skins, blood re-texture or arrow trail mods that don’t use vanilla assets will have additional performance hit as unit size goes up. Likely because vanilla assets have more optimized texture resolution and LODs.

Tested on a worst case custom battle scenario with:
Ryzen 7800x3d
Radeon 7900XT

8 armies per side for a total of 30K+ units on the battlefield at once. This does not happen in the campaign since the game feeds enemy units as reinforcement, not all at once.

Cao Cao only managed 220K men including logistic troops during the year long Red Cliffs campaign so 15K+ per side per battlefield seems decently realistic.
