Landless Balance Patch
Landless Balance Patch – A Realism and Balance Overhaul for CK3
Landless Balance Patch is a lightweight gameplay mod that introduces balance adjustments and light realism improvements to Crusader Kings III’s adventurer and military camp mechanics. In the base game, landless adventurers enjoy several unfair advantages, such as free Men-at-Arms and powerful bonuses, often making them stronger than landed rulers.
This mod rebalances those systems to better reflect the logistical and political realities of maintaining an army without a realm, while softening the overpowered camp-related modifiers. It aims to create a more grounded and challenging experience for both players and AI, without adding bloat or breaking core mechanics.
NOTE: This mod is safe game compatible and can be safely enabled/disabled (should not break saves, report a bug if so!)
Balance Tweaks
• Pavilion buildings no longer provide a Medium Health bonus. Instead, they now apply a minor health penalty to reflect the physical toll of life in the field.
• All Camp Building bonuses to Men-at-Arms (damage, toughness, screen, and pursuit) have been reduced to 20–25 percent of their original values.
• Camp Officer bonuses to Men-at-Arms stats (damage, toughness, screen, and pursuit) have also been reduced to 20–25 percent of their original values.
• The Barber building line has been slightly nerfed. Its reduction to friendly fatal casualties is now less significant.
Additional Mechanics
• Camp Officer positions now receive salaries, representing their influence and need for compensation.
• Landless adventurer Men-at-Arms now incur a small monthly cost in both gold and provisions (Player Only).
• If you cannot afford to maintain your Men-at-Arms, desertion will occur. Soldiers will begin to leave the army until it is sustainable.
Landless Balance Patch helps bring landless adventurers and military camps back in line with the rest of the game. It is a compact, modular adjustment designed for players who want a more immersive and fair CK3 experience.
Compatible with most overhauls. For best results, load after mods that alter buildings or adventurer mechanics.
