Staging Track
Standard and invisible tracks with no speed loss in curves, unlimited curve radius, and increased maximum grade.
In TPF2 when building map edge portals on sandbox maps I often found myself running out of room to hold large trains. Fitting track for a mile long train into a small space meant tight curves that trains would take ages to move through when "exiting" or "entering" the map. Shorter express trains also suffered when using a portal station in an area they should be passing through at high speeds. On model railroads staging yards represent off layout areas and simulate connections to a larger world. Trains in a model RR staging yard must still follow the laws of physics however in TPF we can ignore some of those.
I wanted track that would allow my trains to continue off the map edge then get out of sight quickly so they spend as little time as possible floating in the void. I also wanted to be able to store, load, and unload several long trains without blocking one another in small out of sight places on the map.
I checked the workshop, there were invisible tracks and tracks with no speed loss in curves but no invisible tracks with no speed loss in curves. So I made them and also gave them a higher grade allowance to get underground faster. Just remember, what goes down must come back up under it’s own power.
I may make an invisible tunnel entrance to go with these at some point. An invisible bridge can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2170131905
