Description:
YAH3R (Yet Another Halo 3 Revamp)

By: King Feraligatr
Current Version: 1.0.17

About the Mod:

YAH3R (or Yet Another Halo 3 Revamp) is a revamp mod for Halo 3 that drastically improves the AI, revamps the sandbox, adds new encounters and elements to the game, makes more than several bug fixes and more. It features several QoL features, chief amongst them being the removal of the slowdown during the Cortana/Gravemind moments. The mod also features extra "reviver allies", allies like the Arbiter and Jonhson that will ensure you have a constant source of help when they’re around. The Covenant Separatists make more a presence in the mod, with the Ark and Covenant being joint UNSC/Separatist operations. The Brutes and Flood are more of a threat and are much more aggressive, among other enemy changes. And more.

While YAH3R makes use of several new assets (including from Halo 3: ODST), they’re not high in number and should all match Halo 3’s artstyle. The mod aims to revamp Halo 3 without going too crazy on the changes (The AI might be the biggest exception). YAH3R also aims to revamp Halo 3’s difficulty, seeking to make the game overall harder but more hopefully overall more balanced. Hopefully it creates an experience that, while different from vanilla Halo 3, isn’t too far removed from the base experience as to no longer resemble it.

The mod is balanced and playtested on Legendary. So for the best experience, I recommend said difficulty. Heroic is also a fine choice.

    Notes, Thoughts, and Musings:

It’s been 3 years. 3 long years of working on this mod in one form or another (Ever since Halo 3 was flighted on PC.). I admit I didn’t really know what I was doing exactly or what I wanted from the mod. It certainly didn’t have the name it had now. And due to my years of Custom Edition experience (among other reasons), it used a different balance style, being that in of the style similar to Halo 1. However, working on this mod, my ODST mod, and other ones, it formed into the shape you see now.

The mod certainly caters to me first, which is reflected in how I design and change it. I implemented changes I wanted to see in the game as well improving the AI considerably (Which I have seen as massively downgraded overall after Halo 1, with the exception of Reach’s Elites (And they’re not as fair as Halo 1’s Elites). Though note that my perspective is formed from the games on the MCC… I have little experience with Halos 5 and Infinite as of writing this.). That is not to say that others’ feedback has not been helpful though. In addition to partially creating YAH3R to address some of the common complaints about Halo 3, others playtesting and giving feedback has given valuable insight and more. Even if I don’t implement all the changes suggested, the feedback is greatly appreciated and gives me something to think about. I encourage you to give me (constructive) feedback on the mod as you play it/after you’ve played. 🙂

Finally, the mod is also just created as a way for me to "give back" to Halo 3. Halo 3 was my first Halo game and it means a lot to me. Being able to make a mod for it is like younger me’s dream.

I hope you enjoy the mod as you play it. Now get out there and finish the fight (Yet again. :)).

Even though the mod is past v1.0, I do not plan on stopping on supporting it. I will continue to adjust things, fix bugs, address, and maybe even add/change things for the foreseeable future.

Mod’s shorthand name is pronounced "Yah-er" (The 3 can be seen as an "e", as you well know.).

I also have an ODST mod called ODST: Inferno found on the Nexus[www.nexusmods.com] or on ModDB. I’m also working on a Halo 2 mod called AH2R (Another Halo 2 Revamp), which can be found its alpha form here. It shares a "continuity" with YAH3R and has some similar balance to it, so if you like YAH3R, you may like AH2R.
