Description:

(NOTE: THIS MODEL IS A LEGACY MODEL. IT WONT RECIEVE ANY UPDATES SINCE THERE ARE MORE SUPERIOR VERSIONS OUT THERE)

Alright, with the revise C40-8 and C40-8M up, and the C40-8W complete, we now have there small tiny 4-axle counterparts, the GE B40-8 and there wide cab counterpart, B40-8W.

The GE B40-8 is a 4-axle variant of GE’s C40-8 locomotives being the successor of the GE B39-8. Introduced in 1988 and production continued on them until 1991, with 151 units built across 2 different models. The B40-8 was the standard cab variant, while the B40-8W was the wide-cab version built exclusively for the Santa Fe’s “Super-Fleet”. These locomotives were built for mainline freight, specifically fast intermodal on some roads, like Conrail, NYSW, and Santa Fe. Unfortunately in later years, these locomotives were displaced by there larger 6-axle cousins, which would cause these locomotives to be de-rated, downgraded and dumped onto local freights and switching, which would later drag them into retirement. To date, BNSF is the only major user of these elusive units, both in Wide cab and recently retiring the last few B40-8’s, while other roads like UP, CSX and NS have long-retired them. Many have found use on short lines and getting upgraded to higher horsepower. Luckily, UP 1848, one of the production units, has since been preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum, where it remains in operational condition today.

In this pack includes 8 variants of both models as they would be seen during there prime days.
