After loosing her twin sister in a tragic accident Wendy turned to all manner of occult magic, playing with ghosts and shadows in a futile attempt to restore her unjustly taken loved one to life. Would that they could trade places, Wendy would gladly have gone in her sister’s stead. Fate however had something else in mind…

Although physically weak, and despite being no more than a child, Wendy is a determined and bright little girl, unfortunately set on a tragic path. Her relentless search and endless hours spent deep in ancient tomes saw her quickly become rather skillful in certain magics, much like another individual she seemed to feel a connection with. Nonetheless, despite having become capable of astonishing feats such as phasing through the dark and having the shadows do her bidding, the mysteries of the parted still eluded her. She can temporarily, and at great cost to her own integrity, hold lost souls in the mortal plane, but they are only whispers of who they had been, mere puppets, a fate she would never bestow upon her beloved sister. She needed to dig deeper…

Info:

You can initially think of "The Shadow" as Wendy extrapolating her connection to ghosts, Maxwell and the occult. her primary perk is access to unique shadow magic which requires being in the dark to perform.

Stats:

-> Hunger: 100

-> Sanity: 100

-> Health: 100

Traits Pros:

-> Haunted by her sister (Abigail ftw)

-> Budding witch (Bonus to magic crafting and access to shadow sword and armor)

-> Can channel the shadows in the dark (Access to shadow magic and lost soul puppets)

Traits Cons:

-> Physically weak (Low stats, weak attack and picky eater)

-> Cannot attack without an equipped item/weapon

-> Channeling the dark takes an immense toll on her (massive negative sanity aura)

Special Controls (configurable):

Lost Souls:

-> Pressing ‘z’ toggles between telling bound souls to ‘stay close’ or just ‘nearby’

-> Pressing ‘x’ toggles between telling bound souls to ‘leave me alone and explore’ or go back to just ‘staying nearby’

-> Wendy cannot attack without equipping an item. When empty handed she can only issue attack commands to followers, including lost souls.

Shadow Magic:

-> Enter the darkness to begin channeling. Will be able to see in the dark but incur a massive negative sanity aura.

-> Pressing ‘c’ in the dark binds a souls remains with the shadows into a lost soul puppet (costs 4 mourning glory, 4 nightmare fuel and 10 sanity).

-> Pressing ‘c’ in the light releases the closest lost soul puppet and returns resources used to summon them. (manually attacking a bound soul will do the same).

-> Pressing ‘f’ will command the shadows to form a hand and consume nearby light into nightmare fuel, or perform work such as chopping, mining, etc (costs 1 nightmare fuel).

-> Pressing ‘f’ whilst around hostile mobs will command the shadows to strike (costs 1 nightmare fuel per enemy attacked)

-> Right clicking on open terrain in the dark will trigger her shadow hop (costs 1 nightmare fuel).

-> Opening the map in the dark and right clicking a point will trigger her long range shadow hop (costs scaling amount of nightmare fuel depending on distance (*WIP*)).

Final notes, this mod is a WIP and is constantly evolving/changing as I test it and modify it. There are still many things to be done (custom artwork, code cleanup, debugging, etc, etc…).

Also, I always play in a roleplaying fashion, and while I don’t intend for this character to be broken, she is certainly more powerful than a standard one. Personally I am more concerned with lore and story, "Balance" is something I leave up to the players.

Having said that, constructive feedback is always appreciated! I will be glad to hear suggestions and alter the mod accordingly, that is the whole point of making it public! xD
