Improved AI skill prioritization
This mod assigns a series of hint junctions to every single skill in the game (159 rows!) giving them a rough priority sorting that the AI will tend towards. It weights the skill decision making towards several important features, generally improving the quality of the skill trees the enemy characters end up building.
In particular the AI has been given a supreme priority for
Ability unlocks in romance
The large ‘bodyguard’ nodes that replace abilities in records
anything that unlocks important utility like night battles and fire arrows.
All other skills are generally sorted by how useful they tend to be to an AI player.
Hopefully this will raise the quality of enemy characters. It’s not a foolproof solution since the AI may still choose to deviate from these priorities, but the general tendency will be more directed and controlled.
I was growing frustrated with encountering enemy unique characters having reached high ranks but without them ever picking up their unique abilities! So I decided I’d sit down, hash out some general priority categories and just get modding.
All skills are sorted into the following categories in descending order of priority.
High priority
High impact skills that the AI should always try to pick, abilities, bodyguard nodes, night battles and other key unlocks.
Medium priority
powerful nodes a player would rarely skip (Some priorities are different for the ai.)
Low priority
Useful nodes to travel through.
Iffy priority
Nodes the AI is unlikely to make good use of or nodes that are just on a very low power level.
What the hell the AI still picked some terrible skills!
As mentioned above, this ain’t foolproof, i’m only giving the AI a good shove towards the better stuff, he can still derp out and make bad decisions on his own.
Also that’s not a question.
Is this save compatible?
Sure, probably. But it won’t revert choices the AI already made, best experience is starting anew.
This mod should be compatible with basically anything out there at the moment. It might not gel with some of the bigger overhauls of they’ve tried their hand at the same thing.
For the modder version.
I’ve notably data cored the character_skill_utilization_hints_junctions_tables, so unless the mod also cores that, everything should be OK.
