Amalgamation: Trainee Spec
"Our trainees are reliable shooters with low amounts of shred at early ranks. They’ll have some teachings from all our basic classes, but rarely will excell at any."
Trainees are very modular, due to their "little bit of fits and sticks, they can take in any supporting offensive role. Be it a midrange sharpshooter with their Horizon Gaze, limited only by their Assault Rifle’s weapon range, an armor shredder, only limited by their low amounts of shred, a damage buff with their Embrittle Shot.
These abilities are simple and straight forward
- Pelt Away: Most of your offensive skills and attacks also Shreds 1 Armor.
- Might Takedown: Gain 1 stack of might after a kill, which 1 charge is spent to grant 30% damage on the next attack.
- Return Fire: Returns fire with your rifle after being shot at.
- Embrittle Shot: The next damage instance against this target deals more damage.
- Phantom: Doesn’t lose concelament if squad is revealed.
- Horizon Gaze: While the soldier has not moved this turn, gain squadsight.
- Warm Welcome: The first shot on each clip will disorient on hit.
- Accelerator: When activated, for the next 2 turns, this soldier will gain an extra action, ends turn.
- Even handed: Gains 2 damage on Even turns.
- Running on Empty: Reload 1 ammo after moving, if magazine is fully empty.
- Headwind: Reduced damage taken based on distance from the shooter.
- Drfting Gaze: Spend 1 conventional action to gain a movement only and a non-movement only actions, working like Run and Gun on MOST cases.
- Sonic boom: A free fire shot that deals guaranteed damage on a very small area.
- Consecultive Attack: Shots are not turn ending this turn.
- Sparking Shot: A shot that targets all enemeis in a line, if it hits, deals half damage, doubled vesus mechanical, and stuns for 1 action.
Different from most ‘fit-all’ specs, where you have a versatile soldier that can fit anywhere, Trainees take their basics, and with a little of ingenuity bring their own ideas to the table. They’ve higher points in some areas than most jack of all trades, and lower in other areas. For example, Trainees lack any perk that gives them that extra aim, or extra or reliable extra damage, they can’t switch weapons as easily, or have skills that are left out because you can’t use them for your current loadout.
Trainee has a deck of cards that are almost always useful, but they don’t shine as brightly on *most* cases. Still, from testing, I was always pretty happy seeing Trainee as one of my options.
I had this one on the bag for a while, but motivation has been a low hitter lately. I still have ideas and specs on the oven or cooking, but they might take a while to come.
