The Palm Republic – Huge 1:5 Map
Introducing The Palm Republic, an elogated, up and coming island nation without transportation infastructure. It’s 1850, and people are beginning to feel the strain of congestion and stagecoach travel. Can you take this idellic paradise from zero to the transportation envy of the world?
Note: This is a 1:5 huge map. Experimental map sizes must be enabled in the config file – for instructions, Slim Gaming has a great tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzEsygQoFgs#action=share
Features:
– Thirty hand placed, edited and named towns, including three large metropolitan areas great for commuter services.
– Twenty-seven hand placed and named industries, built with logical supply chains in mind
– An extensive hand placed road network linking most cities and industries
– Loads of wide open space to build huge train yards, airports, or even a freeway down the whole length of the country.
– Due to the size and aspect ratio, most high speed trains can reach their full top speed on crossmap routes
– Terrain that encourages bridges, tunnels and canals
– Water around the entire map to increase shipping possibilities, courtesy of Everyone’s Water All Around Tropical Generator (which can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1935083003)
Some tips:
– The cheapest supply chain to get up and running is in and around Capitol. Have a look at the nearby industries.
– In general, primary industries that are first in the supply chain are located in rural areas. Secondary and tertiary industries are near towns.
– The distribution of towns roughly follows a pattern of population sizes and distance from each other. Use this to your advantage when planning passenger services.
