Operation Tanker Shield
Rising tensions with Iran have prompted coalition forces to escort 6 large oil tankers out of the Persian Gulf into the Arabian Sea. Intelligence reports threats from diesel-electric submarines, coastal missile batteries, and long-range strike aircraft. You command the escort group and must defend the convoy against all threats and ensure safe passage.
Objective:
- Protect the convoy; ensure tankers reach the Arabian Sea safely.
Escort Force:
- Ticonderoga-class cruiser (flagship, Aegis) – serves as the command center for the escort group, provides long-range radar coverage, and delivers heavy anti-air and missile defense to protect the convoy.
- Arleigh Burke-class destroyer – focused on anti-air and missile defense, capable of engaging multiple aerial threats simultaneously while coordinating with other escorts.
- Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate – specializes in anti-submarine warfare, equipped with helicopters and sonar systems to detect and neutralize submarine threats along the convoy route.
Convoy:
- 6 large oil tankers – slow, vulnerable, and carrying highly valuable crude oil. Their safe arrival is the mission’s primary goal.
Enemy Threats:
- Diesel-electric submarines lurking near chokepoints
- Coastal missile batteries along the Iranian littoral
- Long-range strike aircraft
- Optional fast attack craft attempting harassment
Gameplay Notes:
- Maintain proper formation
- Protect the tankers
- Respond quickly to all threats
- Timing, positioning, and coordination are critical; every loss counts
