Pesa EN81 and EN95
Small pack of 2 first electric vehicles manufactured by the PESA works in the city of Bydgostia.
EN95, also known as Pesa Mazovia or type 13WE – 4 coach lightweight electric multiple unit on jacobs system bogeys. The first EMU manufactured in the Pesa works. Due to various technical issues (mainly electrics and doors, passengers also complained about too hard seats, although thay liked soft suspension and) the vehicle remined an sole prototype, although initially an production run of 10 units was proposed. The vehicle saw service on the WKD (Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa – Warsaw Commuter Railroad) – an interurban line in the years 2004-2019 druing which it saw some modifications eg. air conditioners were installed in 2007 (1st air conditioned car on the WKD line!). Today the sole prototype still exists and is an museum vehicle!
Apart from the realistic 4 coach version the pack also includes an shorter 3 coach version that can also operate on tramway lines.
EN81, also known as Pesa 308B – single unit electric railcar manufactured in the pesa works in the years 2005-2007. 8 units were manufactured. The vehicle employs the same motorman’s cab design as the EN95. These units saw service as commuter trains, running both single and in 2 car sets. The vehicle never entered full-scale production mainly due to it’s limited practicality (capacity too small for most of electrified lines, bad performance whan running with an trailer) and low relialability (electrics). Vast majority of these coaches are out of service today (2025) although all of tham still exist.
