Great Northern Side Rod
Introducing the Great Northern Side-Rod, a perfect choice for your electric line!
The real Great Northern 5017 was a Y-1 electric boxcab, used on the GN’s electrified route between Wenatchee and Skykomish. After a 1945 wreck in Tonga, Washington, one of the Y-1s, No. 5011, was rebuilt with a streamlined appearance using salvaged F7 cabs.
In 1956, when the Wenatchee-Skykomish line was dieselized, the GN sold the engines to the Pennsylvania Railroad. They reclassified the Y-1s as FF2, and numbered them 1-7. They were all scrapped by 1966.
Once the train modding system comes out (and I finally teach myself some 3D modeling), I might try making a proper Y-1, but for now, enjoy this!
