Operation Morvarid
Operation Morvarid was a significant Iranian military operation during the Iran-Iraq War, showcasing the coordinated efforts of the Iranian Navy and Air Force. Launched on 27 November 1980, the operation aimed to counter Iraq’s strategic positioning of radar and monitoring equipment on the Mina al-Bakr and Khor al-Amaya oil rigs. These installations were being used to disrupt Iranian air operations. The operation resulted in a decisive Iranian victory, leading to the destruction of both oil rigs, substantial damage to the Iraqi Navy, and crippling blows to Iraqi ports and airfields.
