Location: Central Mediterranean – Gulf of Sidra
A regional crisis unfolds off the Libyan coast. Following the collapse of ceasefire negotiations in Benghazi, a U.S. Navy task group is ordered to conduct a high-risk evacuation of American personnel. Libyan naval forces have issued threats against foreign vessels, and Soviet surface units are maneuvering aggressively nearby under the guise of neutrality.
You are in command of Task Force 65, built around USS Nimitz and USS Manitowoc, with orders to reach Benghazi, extract civilians, and protect all U.S. assets from interference. Expect surface and subsurface threats. The risk of escalation is high. Weapons tight—until they’re not.
This is my second sea power scenario, please leave a comment of what you liked, did not like, and what I could add or improve. I am open to suggestions for future missions as well.
