Shared Factories
This mod waives the new factory requirement in Build Mode for factories the player has already obtained, even if they aren’t installed in the current map.
Nightly 23.56 made a change to Build Mode:
"In build mode, items cannot be created or placed from recipes without the necessary facilities."
This means that now, if you want to craft and build something from Build Mode, you need its factory installed on that map. (e.g. need a glassmaker installed wherever you want to build a window) So in order to build properly, you’d need to construct a bunch of duplicate workshops on every single deed. Instead of spending a minute doing that, I spent an hour modding the nuisance out.
But the way it used to work was still a little imbalanced. For instance, you could craft a generator without ever having seen a machine table before. So instead of just removing the check, I added a secondary check: if the required factory has ever been picked up by the player, it counts for the recipe too. This way you can’t just completely skip all factory requirements by unlocking Build Mode, but you don’t have to install a full set in every location either.
For this mod to affect a factory, you will have to have picked one up into your inventory at some point. If you’ve seen the "It’s a new item" text in the log at some point, it will work. It doesn’t matter if this happened before or after installing the mod, if the mod was uninstalled/reinstalled, etc. If you crafted the factory directly from build mode and never picked one up, it won’t count! In that case, just collect it once to register the item.
