[WotC] Allies Unknown: Jokers Alios Pack
Important Notice: All the assets like visualization of the characters, animations, weapons and abilities are part of the game (WotC, all DLCs) or part of the supported/optional mods. So you have to credit Firaxis or the authors of the supported/optional mods for these assets.
With all supported/optional mods installed, this mod gives you 105 different playable alien characters!
To avoid duplicate template names i grouped the characters into Andros, Archos, Besos, Kodos, Mutos, Sectos and Vipos.

Important Notice: Even some characters look like Alien Rulers, they are not Alien Rulers and they not use the Alien Ruler action system. Otherwise they use their "royal" weapons and have most of their abilities.
The biggest Issue with my playable characters is following: Because i would make it possible to play a tactical mission with my characters only, i gave the characters all mission related abilities. This includes loot, interacting with mission related objects and carrying units.
But because these abilities only thought for X-Com Soldiers the animations can be very ugly. In some cases the game bypass the animation, in other cases there will be disturbing animations. For example, when bigger Besos variants loot something, then they shrink down to soldier size, grap the loot and then enlarge to their normal size.
Also the animations for carrying soldiers are very ugly or weird, so you should not do this (even you can). Maybe in the future some modders can make such animations for alien characters.
Another issue is that many characters are big and so they does not really fit to the equipment screen. This can make the handling in the equipping screen difficult.
Q: What means modular? A: This means you have not to install all supported/optional mods. The number of playable characters depends on the mods you have installed. Also i hope it is clear that you can only play characters which are part of the installed mod(s). For example: You can only play the Valentines Vipos when the Valentines Viper mod is installed.
Q: Can i use this mod without the optional mods? A: Yes, you can. Than you have a limited number of different characters (see the table in the discussion section), so you will have not a great variability. It is then an alternative to the "Playable Alien" Mod by RealMachina with some more characters and some other differences (they use their "native" weapons instead mod weapons).
Q: Can i use it mid-campaign? A: You should not. It will not crash your actual campaign(s), but you will not get the new characters. You should start a new campaign.
Q: Can i use savegames after deleting an optional mod? A: No. Even your game should not crash by loading the savegame, the templates exists further as empty templates (no visualization, no weapons, etc.). But if is your savegame important, than you can fire/retire these characters and play further. But this is not recommended.
