Operation Grey Basalt
Operation Grey Basalt was the code phrase used by American and Royalist planners for the failed invasion of the Republic of Great Britain in 1984. The operation was split into three phases: the first was the infiltration and sabotage campaign against RGB strategic nuclear weapons by Royalist spies and dissidents. The second was a deception campaign, alongside feints and manoeuvres by American warships, to convince the RGB military that the invasion would take place near London via the North Sea. The final phase was the combined naval and air attacks and amphibious landings, which actually took place near Cardiff via the Bristol Channel. Only the second phase is considered by historians to have succeeded.
