______________

Similar changes also apply to the Yellow Turbans units. But I’m a bit too lazy to list the changes there. (Sorry, not sorry)
This shouldn’t apply to EP.
(Also Nanmans, Bandits are unaffected. And so are Ma Teng Qiang units that can be built through having a specific building)

Note :
Removing units from the Tech Tree allows both AI & players to have more variety in their army composition. As far as my meager tests go the AI will now actually try to upgrade its militia into "regulars" (it’s not an automatic process but it happens over time). And in general I felt they fielded much better retinues (even if they don’t stack the right colors on the right generals) – but you may not notice it if you blitz through a campaign.

It also change the dynamic around generals (since you want rank 8 to get the best units in the game) as it means you can no longer fill your level 1 generals retinues with Protectors of Heaven / Azure Dragons. AFAIK AI will rarely arrive at rank 8 but it can happen (unlike rank 9/10, which are very unrealistic)

However this comes without balancing changes to compensate for the loss of the unit unlocks in the tech tree (for the Yellow Turbans) – also I took this out of my personnal "gigantic mod" (which is never gonna get published because it’s a very dirty pack with stuff from everywhere because I’m too lazy to check mods in & out), which also means it’s supposed to be tied to other changes such as regular balance or things like the Yellow Turbans & Bandits actually "stealing" away the Protectors of Heaven and Defenders of the Earth from the Han. (As they already have dedicated Imperial units unlike YT & Bandits) and Bandits unlocking the EP units with certain techs.

Anyways, hf if you use this. And don’t expect it to be updated after next patch. If it does, it does, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.
