Less Skills
Inspired by Incata’s Zero Skill Points and Lorghul’s Hero RPG Skill Overhaul, this mod caps the maximum skill points available to 6 which is given every 5 levels starting from level 5, and caps the leveling system to 30.
New campaign required for full effect, can be removed mid-campaign
This was done for three reasons:
1. Minimizes lords and heroes’ impact while emphasizing other aspects of the game like units, technologies, buildings and overall management.
2. Greatly enhances the campaign flow as picking from many skills with multiple characters quickly becomes cumbersome.
3. Lastly, it facilitates an organic learning system where the characters now progress primarily through action-based traits generated following different actions and stances such as attacking, ambushing etc. This creates a narrative to characters as the skills are connected to the actual campaign plot rather than to a disconnected and arbitrary skill acquiring progress.
The 6-skill point cap enables a combination of mount acquiring and basic skills, where wizards now need to decide whether to expertise in one spell or learn several basic ones.
The 30-level cap is to minimize the lords and heroes’ impact in the auto resolver.
I also standardized the leveling thresholds for a consistent logarithmic progress, meaning more experience required for each additional level.
Overall, it creates a much more unique and dynamically fluid experience that encourages thoughtful gameplay with minimal interferences and artificial additions.
Sadly not compatible with Hero RPG Skill Overhaul but kind of achieves the same goal.
