Description:

This is the first release of Aranak, my third mod nation. This nation was about 2/3 completed for Dominions 5 and then recently finished up and ported over. There may be some lingering weirdness from the transfer. Balance will definitely be getting tweaked, so feel free to point out stuff you think is obviously off.

This is an early version so lots of stuff might be getting changed/added. I’ll do my best to avoid breaking saves (and multiplayer with mods isn’t an issue right now) but it’s always possible. The main thing I’ll be looking to add soon is more national pretenders.

The idea of this nation is basically a "barbarian" faction that has very little technology but a lot of raw power. Their troops are generally big, fast and have multiple attacks, but suffer from bad protection due to little access to armor. They have good archers, including sacred archers, and can recruit different types of units in different terrains. Their magic is a bit all over the place with lots of different casters but not a lot of path depth outside of their strong cap-only death/blood mages.

"In the early days of the world, the Pantokrator created the wild places of the world and filled them with plentiful creatures. With these creatures came hunters, from the mighty lions to the smallest and least significant: the humble spiders. Despite their tiny size, the Pantokrator was taken with their cunning and ferocity and elevated some to intelligence and huge size. The great being was eager to see how they might hunt larger game, and was delighted in their performance. A diverse number of creatures were created, from the mighty and ferocious lycosi of the woods to the clever and agile salticadi of the foothills. With the disappearance of the Pantokrator, another powerful being has taken the Aranaki under its care and now urges them onwards to seat itself upon the throne of the heavens. The disparate tribes are coming together in numbers never seen before, creating settlements and armies and striking out against their foes in the name of this new Hunting God."
