Description:

Adds Rocket Pods as an option to the ingame missile launcher.

Rocket Pods can deal high, frontloaded damage to a broad area.

It can only fire from a forward position and is poor at focusing specific parts.

The Rocket Pods have the following properties.

– Uses existing HE missile parts at 1 part per rocket.

– Each Rocket Pod can hold 8 rockets that deal 15000 damage in a 2 meter radius.

– Rocket Pods must be loaded to full before firing and must stop firing before being reloaded.

– Rocket Pods have a range of 400m and will target and fire on their own. Specific enemy parts cannot be targeted.

– Can only fire when missile launcher is facing forward or at a forward angle for diagonal ships.

Mod Makers Commentary:
This is my first mod I have developed for Cosmoteer and it was a learning experince. I wanted to make a missile system that felt more aggressive without being overpowered.

The Rocket Pods can output a large amount of damage in a short amount of time. It can break apart the front of ships and overwhelm PD and shields. It also requires relatively little resources to operate.

To balance its damage potential some restrictions were added. With the forward facing requirement they have to be somewhat exposed and can’t be hidden on the side or back of a ship. Additionally the unfocused damage makes it less of a threat against very heavy armor.

Even with these restrictions I hope it finds a place in your ships arsenal.
