Description:
Fragments of Europe Songs of the Dying Order

This scenario is an additional campaign on the Soviet side, focusing on the European theater of war in “Battle Over Hokkaido.”
It aims to depict the remarkably varied world of 1990 within Seapower, and relies on multiple mods to make that possible.

This scenario is also a personal experiment in how to present missions, and includes several test-bed mechanisms.
Missions 05 / 06 / 07 use a far greater number of triggers than the others, so loading times can be very long.
In addition, Mission 05 can produce shader errors depending on which units are spawned. These are caused by interactions between multiple overlapping mods and can safely be ignored (select Ignore / OK).
These errors should not have any serious impact on actual gameplay.

Beyond this, there may still be unforeseen bugs and issues that the author has not yet discovered.
If you encounter any problems (other than those mentioned above), I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know in the comments.

If you don’t mind, a rating and any comments you can spare would be a real motivation boost.
(For example: “The difficulty could be a bit higher,” “I’d like a heavier narrative tone,” or “Please include this or that ship,” etc.)

0. PROLOGUE

Assigned to the Northern Fleet, the Second Northern European Operations Fleet departs Murmansk on 26 February,
and begins its advance toward the Norwegian Sea.

1. FADED TORCH

You will attempt to destroy the air-defense and surveillance network in northern Norway and open a “safe corridor” for monitoring the southward movement of the fleet.

2. ESCALATION

The Northern Fleet’s 121st Landing Ship Division has turned toward Tromsø.
At the same time, the upper command has designated the Provisional 15th Surface Division as a forward base for a heliborne assault, planning a two-stage offensive that combines both forces…

3. COASTAL HIGHWAY

Enemy fleet activity has been detected in the northern Norwegian Sea.
Take command of the under-strength Provisional 15th Surface Division, positioned closest to the enemy and furthest forward, and buy time until the main fleet can arrive.

4. OVERTURE

To gain access to the North Sea, you are ordered to launch a strike on Bergen Airport, the Norwegian airfield closest to the United Kingdom.
Cripple Bergen’s key functions before the airborne troops are dropped, and secure the airspace so that the transport aircraft can reach the area safely.

5. TIDALWAVE

As dusk closes in, a massive US–UK joint air and naval operation erupts over the North Sea.
Your fleet manages to detect the unfolding battle, but…

6. HEARTBEAT

The fleet proceeds south along the Norwegian coast and begins a forced penetration into the Danish Straits—the gateway to the Baltic Sea.

7. NOT ONE STEP BACK

While on patrol in the Baltic Sea, your forces make contact with an enemy fleet.
Both sides find themselves in a situation where neither can afford to retreat, and the sea once again erupts into flames.

CAUTION

In creating this scenario, the author has tried to replicate, as closely as possible, the actual force structures and equipment loadouts of the early 1990s.
However, in reality, the Soviet Union had nowhere near the resources required to take on the whole of Europe at once.
For that reason, the scenario is deliberately generous toward the Soviet side.

Otherwise, it simply would not have been possible to make a scenario that plays reasonably well.
Please keep this in mind as you assume command and conduct your operations.
