About

Sons of Vrogir implements Orcs completely into Divinity: Original Sin 2. This mod greatly expands on the few Orcish assets left in DOS2’s files that were remnants of the Orcish people’s more prominent role in the first game. Visual and animation improvements leave them with all the same options as the other intelligent races of Rivellon, including, most importantly, making them playable in both Story and GM Mode.

Features:

Animation Set Expanded: Tweaks and corrections to a long list of animation keys means that Orcs are now capable of using every single weapon type and every single spell exactly as intended. Their default casting animation is an overhand lob instead of the much lengthier "shout" (although they still use that for "shout" Skills like Guardian Angel or Enrage).

Animation Skeleton Improved: The orcs have various new bones on their animation skeleton to get them up to snuff with the other races. Wings and Spider Legs will be placed correctly on their backs with the appropriate Polymorph skills, holstered shields will no longer disappear and become invisible, and neither will spears, staves, or off-hand weapons. They also have a player light "bone" just like all the other playable races.

Reavers Of Rivellon: Orcs are a fully playable race, complete with their own camera and background for their portraits, two talents specific to them, and a unique racial skill:

– Talents: Orcs start the game with two talents: Warlord and Spook. Warlord increases all damage done by 10%. Spook gives you +1 Telekinesis.
These will not show up on your list of talents but they are applying.

– War Howl: The unique racial Skill for Orcs. War Howl unleashes a savage cry that leaves your enemies Shaken for 2 turns, reducing all damage they do by 8% and making them 20% less accurate too. This can’t be resisted by armor, but can be cured by Clear-Minded and Enraged, which also protect from it. Encourage removes it too, but Shaken will also remove Encourage from anyone who has it.

Blood-Sisters: Female Orcs are also playable! Instead of using the…VERY different female Orc model from the first Divinity: Original Sin, a heavily tweaked version of the male model has been used to allow for the same breadth of animation, which the DOS1 female orc model lacked.
(Side note: I decided that calling the mod "Sons and Daughters of Vrogir" would be too long; I wanted "Vrogir" to show up on the mod list because it’s a word that stands out. Sorry ladies!)

Let Me See Your Warface: Choose from a variety of faces, horns, and tusks to make every orcish adventurer unique. More than 10 face options, 5 Horn options, and 6 Tusk options for males and females. Males and females also get two horn-free options if you prefer, with the sides of the head smoothed out and skin colored. The second choice is slightly bigger than the first and looks nicer with some of the bulkier head options.

50 Shades Of Green: The orcs make use of all three Cloth color channels, the skin color channel, and use the "hair" color channel for their horns and tusks, allowing a great deal more variety on top of the model changes above.

Master of the Horde: As Gamemaster Mode is the main focus of all my mods, various new Orcish NPCs can be spawned making use of this mod’s features:
– "Talented" Orc NPCs have Warlord and Spook. Since these don’t show up on the Talent list, this is the only way to get those on an NPC.
– "Hero" Orc NPCs are literally the exact root templates used for player characters. They have War Howl by default, but War Howl will be there in the Gamemaster’s Skill menu to apply to any NPC too.
– "Classic" Orc NPCs use the model that orcs have in their one and only appearance (as a corpse) in Divinity: Original Sin 2, and have options for all the other original DOS1 "Warrior" and "Slave" Orcs in their Head slot.

Notes, Compatibility, and Beta

There’s actually even more to say about this mod than all of this, but I’ve hit the Steam Workshop character limit. Check the forums below for more information!

Special Thanks

Calling this ambitious, year-long project "a port of DOS1 stuff" is really an understatement. This mod couldn’t have been possible without the help of many members of the community.

• DoctorBeetus for his help with Story Scripting, which is used for the Shaken status effect’s interaction with vanilla status effects without causing conflicts.

• Norbyte, who knows the engine better than anyone and made the import/export to .dae tool that made this mod possible at all.

• LaughingLeader who’s Blender expansion for use with the Divinity Engine made it possible for Orcs to have such a variety.

• Ekrell, who let me play an Orc PC in his GM campaign to help me work out the kinks, and to the other players who had to deal with manually installing the .pak file every time I wanted to update it.

• Everyone on Larian Studios’ official Discord Server who answered my many questions over the years and whose interest in this mod motivated me to keep expanding on it.

• Lastly, I want to thank the GM Bastion Discord Server for keeping GM mode alive.
