The Browning M1917 is a heavy machine gun used primarily by the United States during the First World War in 1917. The machine gun was water cooled and belt-fed, featuring a firerate of 450-600 rounds a minute. Despite being comparably bulkier and heavier than the air-cooled M1919 machine gun that would see service 2 years later, The machine gun remained in service all the way into the Vietnam War and even saw service with other nations. Most notably, it was used to repel the Japanese in Guadalcanal, which earned notable people during the battle like John Basilone their claim to fame.
