As the winner of Three Kingdoms, Jin Dynasty unified China and established a strong empire after the fall of Han Dynasty. However, the nobles’ thirst for power teared the empire into pieces and made it a perfect prey for surrounding former vassals. Central Plain, the birthplace of Chinese civilization, was soon flooded by countless barbarian tribes immigrated from borders of the empire. In 316 AD, the court in Chang’an was captured by Xiongnu leader Liu Yao’s army after long siege, while Jie leader Shi Le conquered North of Yellow River. When those ambitious invaders were ready to fight for the dominance of China, Jiangnan (South of Yangtze), the eventual shelter of Jin Dynasty, was no different from a wavering candlelight. In this age of despair, Jin general Zu Ti was plannig for his first Northern Expedition to take back the Central Plain, even if what he had was merely food supply for 1000 soldiers…
