Description:
Tatra V570

Tatra V570 is a czechoslovak passenger car prototype with an aerodynamic body designed by Hans Ledwinka and developed between 1931 and 1933. The vehicle never entered series production, as the concept was abandoned in favor of larger vehicles. The Tatra V570’s streamlined shape attracted the attention of German designer Ferdinand Porsche, who used the Czechoslovak design to create the Kdf Wagen (the very popular Volkswagen Käfer after the war). In 1938 Hans Ledwinka filed a lawsuit against Ferdinand Porsche, but the lawsuit was unsuccessful. The long-running lawsuit for plagiarism of the vehicle ended only in 1961, ending with a verdict ordering Volkswagen to pay Tatra 3 million German marks. The only surviving prototype can be seen at the Tatra Museum in Kopřivnice.
