The original Izvestia building in Moscow before the 1975 expansion. Finished in 1927, it is one of the most striking examples of constructivist architecture.
Most photos online are of the front facade (understandably so), so you don’t realize that there’s actually a second building in the back that is part of the ensemble. The photos also don’t tell you that the building’s east side is angled!
The back and the roof of this model are not entirely faithful to the real thing because I couldn’t find good pictures of those parts of the building. The gray paint job that it has nowadays was only added during the 2012-2018 renovations. It used to have a much lighter, beigeish colour. I’ve made the modern gray available as a skin – but I didn’t bother with the bricks. There’s also skins without the propaganda on the balconies/roof.
Obviously, there’s no such thing as a newspaper building in WRSR, so I’ve decided to make this building a courthouse. Why? Because from what I can tell, there are no constructivist courthouses available in the workshop. We have constructivist police stations, city halls, universities, shops, residential buildings, but no courthouse!
