What is this mod?

This mod is the LWOTC-converted version of the [WOTC] Psionic Monk Class class mod.

Psionic Monk is a melee-focused custom class that fights with a Combat Gauntlet (Primary) instead of firearms, and uses a Psi Amp (Secondary) to support and enhance that style of combat.
By combining an “unarmed combat” concept with psionic skills, the class is designed to close in, suppress enemies, endure pressure, and finish the fight at point-blank range.

About the Class

This class is built around iridar’s excellent [WOTC] Unarmed Weapons framework, using a newly created primary weapon called the “Combat Gauntlet.”
LWOTC has its own infiltration system, so this mod also includes the necessary LWOTC-side setup for the new weapon (Combat gauntlet & iridar’s unarmed weapon) to behave properly in a Long War campaign.

This class is designed around the following equipment setup:

  • Primary Weapon: Combat Gauntlet (based on Unarmed Weapons)
  • Secondary Weapon: Psi Amp
  • Armor: Standard soldier armor

Overall, Psionic Monk is a hit-and-run melee specialist: establish position in close-quarters, overwhelm targets with counters and suppression-like control, then disengage quickly.

Ability Tree Overview
Martial Arts – Core gauntlet melee tree – Frontline brawling focused on knocking enemies down and finishing them – Can gain an explosive power spike through a final awakening ability Light Step – Mobility / evasion / terrain usage tree – Focused on securing engagement distance, dodging attacks, and escaping dangerous situations Inner Strength – Survival / endurance tree – Regeneration, last-stand effects, and ally-protection tools, including intercepting hits and redirecting ally damage Psi Techniques – Improves overall combat sustain and uptime XCOM – Generic perks from a random deck – Utility / survivability / damage boosts

Requirements

You must subscribe to all required items listed in the mod dependencies.

  • Long War of the Chosen (LWOTC) is required.
  • Do not run the original WOTC version and this LWOTC version at the same time.

Important Notes
  • Balance: This class may feel somewhat strong depending on your LWOTC modlist and campaign settings. You can tweak values through the .ini files in the Config folder (notably XcomGrapple.ini).
  • I don’t play Long War, and this mod hasn’t been tested in a Long War environment, so I can’t guarantee that the bridge or the class will work perfectly in LWOTC. In theory, it should—but there are no guarantees.

Q: Does this mod work with the LWOTC Experimental version?

A: Probably yes.
