Dynamic Councilor Attribute Caps

This mod dynamically adjusts the maximum attributes of all councilors based on global technology progression. As additional technologies are researched, the allowed maximum for councilor attributes increases. This allows councilors to continue improving as the campaign advances rather than max out at 25 max stats.

Save Compatibility

The mod is safe to add to or remove from an active save.

Load-Time Behavior

When loading a save with this mod enabled, the mod temporarily sets councilor attributes to the maximum possible value in order to prevent a known calculation issue. The correct attribute caps are recalculated at the start of the next in-game day.

During this interval, councilor attributes should not be increased by spending XP. If attributes are increased before the recalculation occurs, they may later be reduced back to the recalculated cap with loss of XP. It is recommended to allow one in-game day to pass after loading before modifying councilor attributes.

Configuration

Technology-based caps are defined in the cap_techs.txt file. Users may add or remove technologies as desired, but must manually adjust the base_cap and max_cap values for any changes they make. The base_cap may also be increased directly, and doing so behaves similarly to other mods that modify global configuration values.

Default Technology Gates

At base configuration, councilor attribute caps increase as the following technologies are researched:

  • Administration Algorithms
  • White Collar Automation
  • Mind and Machine
  • Quantum Encryption
  • Quantum Computing
  • Applied Artificial Intelligence
  • Integrated Earth–Space Economy
  • Arrival Governance
  • Accelerando
  • Interplanetary Polities

Maximum attribute cap is 35 as configured.

Requirements and Verification

This is a code mod and requires Unity Mod Manager. Pressing Ctrl + U will confirm that the mod is active. The Unity Mod Manager log menu will display updates to councilor attribute caps as technologies are researched and the campaign progresses.

Compatibility

This mod should be compatible with most other mods. Mods that directly modify the MaxCouncilorAttribute value in the GlobalConfig will interfere with this mod’s behavior and are not compatible.
