Description:

Play as the reformed Wang of Chu, Zhuang; in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI.

The Chu were one of the mightiest feudal states during the age of Zhou sovereignty over the Middle Kingdom. It is from this bold frontier province that the Ba, Yue, and Baiyue were first introduced to the budding Sinosphere, and these peoples would add to the distinctness of Chu era religion. Other innovations would include works in calligraphy and writing, and, of course, the popular repeating crossbow or ‘Chu-ko-nu’ originated in this realm. Gradually the Chu became a kingdom in their own right until the total disolution of Zhou as power coupled with the Warring States period bringing new meaning to the Mandate of Heaven forever.

• Trait – Hydraulic Engineering: +20% yields from chopping or harvesting. Can build Aqueducts, Canals, and Dams with Bronze Working. Entering a new era grants the only Hydraulic Engineer.
• Agenda – Chengyu: Likes civilizations with populous, productive cities. Dislikes civilizations with unpopulated, unproductive cities.

  LEADER GREAT PERSON: HYDRAULIC ENGINEER

• Cities within 2 tiles gain +1 Amenity and +100% Production towards Aqueducts, Canals, and Dams.

  CIVILIZATION: GREAT CHU

• Trait – Age of Hegemons: Producing a Ranged class unit grants a second copy. Ranged class units cost an additional 1 Gold maintenance.
• Alt Names – Chu China, Great Jing, Jing China, Great Jingchu, Jingchu China, Zhangchu, Western Chu, Ma Chu, Southern Chu.
• Spawn Bias – None.

  CIVILIZATION UNIT: FORMER CHU-KU-NO (ANCIENT CHU-KO-NU)

• Replaces the Crossbowman. Available at Mathematics. +3 Combat Strength when defending against melee attacks. Adjacent enemies suffer -3 Combat Strength.

  CIVILIZATION DISTRICT: LACQUERWARE-BRONZEWARE TOMB

• Replaces the Theatre Square. Available at Astrology. +1 Science, Culture, and Faith. Buildings within the district gain +1 Science, Culture, and Faith. Completing grants Bronze Working.
