[WOTC] Iridar’s Turn Timer
Do you like to suffer? Would you like to suffer more? If yes, then you’re in the right place. Introducing the everyone’s favorite multiplayer feature to single player: the forced turn timer.
With this mod you will have a limited time to plan and execute your turns. Once the timer runs out, the mod will force the end of turn, even if you still have soldiers with actions remaining.
The timer is paused while the game is visualizing soldier actions.
[WotC] Mod Config Menu is supported but not mandatory.
This mod operates entirely on the UI layer and should be safe to add or remove mid-campaign.
Should be compatible with everything.
- Loading a save resets the timer.
- Altering game’s speed via slomo console commands or pressing numpad plus and minus may or may not interfere with the mod.
- Sometimes the timer might tick despite the game still visualizing things without giving the player control. May or may not be connected to the previous issue.
You can reposition the timer using my own trademark drag-and-drop feature. To reposition the timer, click and hold the left mouse button on the timer’s black background. In a second or so you will see the drag controls appear. Put your mouse pointer over them to make the panel move. Once you’re satisfied with the panel’s location, click the center button.
The timer is configurable via Mod Config Menu, which has the following settings:
- Starting Timer Value – the amount of time the timer will always have at the start of your turn, regardless of how many soldiers you have. This setting is intended for people who want to always have the same time per turn like in multiplayer, e.g. 60 seconds.
- Additional Time Per Unit – the amount of time added to the timer for each unit under your control. E.g. if you have 4 soldiers in the squad, and this setting is set at 20, then you will have 4 x 20 = 80 seconds per turn. This setting is intended for people who want the time per turn to scale dynamically based on squad size. The setting takes into account any additional units you may spawn or otherwise get under your control during the mission. Similarly, losing soldiers or getting them incapacitated will reduce the amount of time given to you.
- Grace Period – when you have less than the specified amount of time left on your turn, and you give a command to a soldier, the timer is reset to this value, so that you may have a few additional seconds to give additional commands to the soldier until the timer runs out. The multiplayer timer has a similar feature.
- Low Timer Value and Low Time Beep Interval – these settings control the amount of time left on the timer that is considered "low time", at which point the timer will warn you by turning the timer text red and playing a beep sound.
- Timer Size Scale – controls the visual size of the panel. Note that timer size does not update properly mid-tactical.
