Talisman Everything

Allows every spellbook to be turned into a talisman, and lets you create talisman from rods, scrolls and potions.

Use talisman to create weapons that inflict weakness, summon shadows, and many other effects. Or perhaps you’d prefer to bonk your allies on the head with the barbed club of cure wounds? With this mod it’s possible.

FAQ

Can the mod be added/removed mid-save?
Yes, you can safely add/remove the mod at any time. Already inscribed talisman will stay until used up.

Does this work with modded spells?
Yes.

I attacked something and the talisman applied to myself?
Due to how some spells are coded certain spells always self-target. For example, hitting an enemy with a talisman of mutation will mutate yourself instead of the enemy. The mod’s default configuration will disable annoying and useless spells (such as mutation, evacuation and identify) from being used as talisman, but you will have to experiment with the other spells.

I attacked something and the talisman didn’t fire?
Hold shift to enable offensive actions on neutral targets.
Due to the way how the game is coded targets like the training dummy will never trigger certain talisman. It will still work when fighting normally.

Can I change which items can be used for creating talisman?
Yes, it’s configurable. You can even disable creating talisman from spellbooks and only allow potions if you want.

Can I change which spells can be used as talisman?
Yes, you can customize the allowed types through the config.

What are the base game’s allowed spell types for talisman?
"attack" and "attackArea".

Where can I find the type/categories assigned to spells used in the configuration?
In this sheet[docs.google.com] starting (at time of writing) at row 7001. Look for the categorySub and abilityType columns.

Is this balanced?
I found the expanded spell selection to be surprisingly well-balanced. It can be seen as an alternative to using rods, but using your own levels.
Rods and magic device are very strong, so they hold up against any competition.

You might think it doesn’t fit thematically, but I ended up swapping weapons far more often to apply different effects.
Since I believe having a large arsenal of weapons to swap between is part of the sword sage playstyle, it ended up fitting perfectly.

For rods, they will roughly convert to the same amount of charges as their uses. Potions and scrolls will only give a small amount of charges.

I thought you said I could talisman everything?
If this mod gets 100k subscribers I will add the ability to turn Corgon into a talisman.
