Last but not least… placeable forts!

Summary

This mod is adding the ability for any army to build a fort in your owned region for all 24 factions.

Use your forts to defend maps choke-points, exert zone of controls and pressure to your border, and recruit or train your next forces to be picked up by incoming lords.

  • To build a fort at your current army location, press the fort icon down the panel.
  • Those forts can be filled with recruited units or recruit units directly.
  • They can be upgraded to level 2 to mitigate their unit upkeep costs.
  • They can be upgraded to level 3 to train your troops, gain T1 units recruitement options, and deploy powerful campaign map area effects.
  • When attacked, it will start a siege battle using one of the splendid fort maps made by FSFRanger.
  • They cannot be besieged: So no siege equipements, and no siege attrition (due to modding limitations)
  • To remove a fort, disband it’s commander
  • You can build forts closer to settlements, so that your fort’s army will be able to reinforce the settlement in case of conflict (and vice versa). Useful when there is no choke point in the area.
  • You can build forts closer to other forts, so that your forts’ armies will be able to reinforce each other in case of conflict. Useful when building a line of forts at the common border of 2 regions. Be imaginative !

You can change the following settings through MCT:
Faction specific settings:

  • Able to create forts (default: yes)
  • Initial fort building cost (default: depends on faction)
  • Fort battle map size: You can choose small fort (barricade fort), medium fort (default walled square fort) or Large fort. This will only affect future forts you build. (default: depends on faction)

Global settings:

  • The minimal diplomacy level required to be able to build your fort on a region (default: defensive alliance)
  • Able to build forts in Hostile Territory (default: no)
  • Able to build forts in settlement reinforcement range (default: yes)
  • Able to build forts in other forts reinforcement range (default: yes)
Coming next

As for now, AI can’t build forts.
I am looking for modders capable of implementing ways to make AI to go around the map building forts at their strategic borders, filling them with units, and upgrading the units as they unlock new tiers.

Compatibility
  • Should be compatible with the majority of mods.
  • Works with TOW and IIE campaigns.
  • SFO/Radious: it works, but it needs a submod to add SFO/Radious units and skills to forts and fort commanders.
  • (New!) It is now multiplayer compatible. Working with MCT enabled!
  • You can add it mid-campaign, but cannot remove it afterwards!

  • Q: Is this mod compatible with x?
  • A: I don’t know, but you can check it by yourself. Then tell me if it is not the case, so that I might do something about it.
  • Q: Will you add forts to new factions added by mods?
  • A: We might if there are enough requests.
  • Q: Is this mod compatible with mods that remove supply lines?
  • A: It is, use No Supply Line for All made by Antagonistes instead.
