Cathay Rituals and Buildings
Add four rituals for cathay:
1. Confucianism: Benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trust
Confucius embodies both benevolence and righteousness, while Mencius embodies both righteousness and benevolence.
Confucius believed that human nature is inherently good, and that one must cultivate their innate virtues and character through learning. Confucius did not view himself as a prophet but rather as a transmitter of historical philosophy. Therefore, the purpose of Confucian temples is not to worship Confucius himself but to honor his teachings. In practicing Confucian philosophy, adherents treat those around them with equal respect, which also improves the quality of life for those around them.
2. Taoism: The way follows nature
The way that can be spoken of is not the eternal way; the name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The Huang-Lao school advocated for rulers to govern by doing little and suppressing desires, withdrawing from excessive expression of self. The ruling elite have oppressed the people for too long; decayed officials sit in the halls of power, and vile creatures are honored among the high ranks. Those who should serve the people instead enjoy the nation’s resources, becoming parasites. True liberation can only be achieved through enlightenment, and the people are poised to step onto the stage of history, restoring balance between the state and the people.
3. Agriculturalism: Promote agriculture and sericulture
Follow the people’s hearts, be loyal and loving to the people. Prepare for hunger with diligence, and provide relief during disasters.
The livelihood of the people depends on agriculture. If the farmers lack plows, the state should provide them. Government assistance strengthens the nation. “People’s livelihood” is the foundation of social stability, and agriculture is the foundation of livelihood. Farmers harvest crops, while landlords “harvest” the farmers, taking a significant share of their earnings. Society and the state should offer more support, providing iron tools and reducing taxes to secure the livelihood of farmers.
4. Yin-Yangism: Yin, Yang, and Wuxing
Together as one, converge and awaken. The changes of Yin and Yang continue endlessly.
All things in the universe follow a natural cycle; nothing can flourish forever, just as flowers have their seasons and the moon has phases. The alternation of seasons and the cycle of day and night reflect the Dao of nature. Everything reaches its peak only to decline, yet after decline, there is rebirth. In the ashes of the past, remnants fuel the birth of new things.
Add three building lines for cathay:
Storage Sequence: Food reserves prevent theft, pest infestation, and natural disasters such as rain and snow. They also supply provisions during enemy sieges.
Taoist Temple Sequence: The Tao teaches people to forsake greed, and those who follow it find joy in the fruits of their labor.
Garden Sequence: A space reserved for nature and harmony.
ps: Also allow all high elves factions to build Handmaidens’ Gallery (tier 4 only) and World Root Entrance (landmark).
