[B42.13] Week One Multiplayer
Week One Single Player has not been coded properly for multiplayer architecture, so I started rewriting the the multiplayer version from scratch.
Here is the first TEST version with only one "Day One" like scenario. Mod contains some features you already know, some features that have been improved, but also some new ideas.
I warn you that it is not the whole 7 days as you know from single player mod. This will require far more work. But this is good start. It’s playable and hopefully enjoyable. And I can collect feedback and error reports.
The difficulty is somewhere between "Very hard" and "Pain enthusiast" so be prepared.
You should add this mod to a fresh world. Do not play this in single player mode, you can play this alone or with friends in multiplayer mode.
Initially All players joining the server will be teleported to a Waiting Room. You can wait for other players, or vote to start the game by clicking on your name. Once all players are voted ready, the time starts ticking, and you are all teleported to the same spawn location.
- If the events are too intense, consider changing the day length to 2 or 3 hours
- It will no work in single-player mode!
- All players need to have game version 42.13.1+. In Steam, go to Library, right click on Project Zomboid, click Properties, click Betas, select 42.13.1, let Steam download the version. Steam will not download anything if you have game already turned on.
- All players need to have two mods fully downloaded. Verify if dirs and files are present on your drive. Also check the sizes.
BanditsWeekOneMultiplayer: folder: c:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent1086003631385356 size: 332,277,665 bytes Bandits2: folder: c:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent1086003631385356 size: 325,248,566 bytes
- For local hosting, in game, click Host, edit settings and select the two mods and also select them in Steam tab. Start the game. Then use Steam overlay to invite your friends.
- For dedicated host you need to edit these lines to your ini file:
Mods=Bandits2;BanditsWeekOneMultiplayer WorkshopItems=3268487204;3631385356
For Linux dedicated servers also change this:
DoLuaChecksum=false - Never add mods to existing world, always start with a new one
- If still having issues disable any other mods, they may be interfering in some way
- If still having issues do not change sandbox settings.
- Some/most of the characters lose their loot and clothes when they die. It’s still a mystery how the game handles multiplayer deaths to me
- Game may crash occasionally, there are at least two in-game bugs, I am trying to report them to IS.
- Map chunks may be loading with some lag, I don’t recommend driving a car fast or at all.
