Fjord Encounter
After the the sinking of their aircraft carrier, the US is in turmoil. The troops are unnerved and the command structure is in chaos. Washington is torn: revolt openly against the president and immediately stop of all attacks against Greenland? Or double down on the attack?
In an unprecedented move, Canada is blocking overflight permission for all US military flights. This makes direct involvement of the US airforce a bigger endeavor than planned. For the moment, it is quiet in Greenland. But we have to remember that the US has a base on our island already, far north in Pittufik.
Some reconnaissance aircraft and F-16s are stationed there. The sea ice in the north does not allow ship movement yet, and the F-16s do not have the range to reach Nuuk. If any attack is to come from the north, they would have to take a base in between first. And there are lots of old airfields along the coast…
One of the larger airports is at Ilulissat, the third biggest settlement in Greenland. In winter and summer, many Greenlanders travel far to hunt and fish, but during the season of ice breakup in the fjord, they stay closer to home. Still, some hunters have reported seeing a large ship in the fjords north of Ilulissat, and hearing loud noises in the fog.
This is mission 2 of the work in progress "Greenland 2026" campaign, set in May 2026. The missions show a fictional, but plausible attack scenario, and allow the player to conduct the defense of Greenland. Red side missions may be available too.
I have added an F-16C mod to have reasonably modern adversary aircraft, but this mod is not perfect. Sometimes, drop tanks are bright pink, and the AIM120Bs are often useless. There is also a cosplayer in this mission, an Austin playing it’s younger relative San Antonio.
