Faster War Declarations (Treaty Breaking)
This mod lowers the amount of turns required to declare war without getting a reliability penalty hit, bringing this mechanic more in line with the actual pacing of a campaign.
In the base game, after you sign a treaty:
• You have to wait 10 turns before being able to cancel it.
• Another 10 turns before you can declare war.
This means 20 turns between signing a treaty and being able to declare war.
This mechanic is adjusted according to the level of diplomatic commitment:
1) Trade Agreements / Military Access / Peace treaty
• 5 turns total: 2 turns to cancel, 3 turns before declaring war.
• 5 turns before declaring war after signing a peace treaty.
2) Non-Aggression Pacts
• 8 turns total: 3 turns to cancel, 5 turns before declaring war.
3) Defensive and Military Alliances
• 10 turns total: 5 turns to cancel, 5 turns before declaring war.
Gifting / Trading settlements
• After gifting or trading a settlement, the amount of turns to declare war without a reliability penalty is reduced to 3 turns.
• The mod works with currently active campaigns and takes effect as soon as the save is loaded.
• When removing the mod, the save remains accessible and reverts back to vanilla values.
• I can’t say if this mod is compatible with every other mod out there, but it works fine with my current list of 40 mods.
All the mod does is change the values in one single table in the following directory:
