Alton’s Assimilation & Conversion Rebalance
This mod is meant to be played with Invictus as it uses the province_ranks default file from Invictus. It can still be run without Invictus but, you won’t get +1 and +2 base resource production for cities and metropolises respectively as Invictus lowers those values.
My mod introduces changes and rebalancing to assimilation & conversion (A&C) in Imperator: Rome. Inspired by this out of date pop assimilation rebalance mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1914060748 made by cinderblock.
Fully compatible with Invictus 1.11. Put my mod below Invictus, and other mods that edit the same files if you want this to override them.
Ever feel like the world of Imperator has to much homogeneity? Has more than half of Egypt, the Levant, Anatolia, Persia, and more been consumed by the Great Blue Blob that is Hellenism 50 years into the game?
Well this mod is an attempt to at least considerably slow down that process so the Imperator map can remain a lot more diverse, and closer to history far longer into the game.
List of changes:
- Added modifiers to all terrain types (including those added by Invictus) to lower A&C speed across the board. The Zoroastrians of the Zagros mountains, and the native Kemetic Egyptians of the desert are now extremely slow to A&C, and usually don’t at all unless considerable effort is made.
- Added modifiers to cities and metropolises to make it easier to assimilate and convert pops in those territories. If you want to A&C those weird forest Druids quicker, bring them civilization.
- Lowered religious conversion governor policy effect from 3 to 1, putting it on the same level as the assimilation governor policy. I feel like it was way over tuned, and it would have essentially made my changes useless.
- Increased "Wrong Culture Happiness" from 20% to 24%, and "Wrong Culture Group Happiness" from 12% to 18% to make it easier to manage non integrated cultures in light of my changes.
- Increased "Deity Same Religion Happiness" from 4% to 6% but, increased "Mismatching Pantheon Diety" malus from 20% to 30%. Pops are now happier but, harder to convert if their different religion deity is represented in your pantheon.
All of these changes work to make it an overall slower process to achieve homogeneity across the world, and from observing, it’s very noticeable. Egypt for example remains majority Kemetic well beyond 100 years into the game, and the native cultures practically remain untouched. Of course, as per the nature of this game, the culture and religion map will still eventually coalesce into a few large blobs, but this will now occur much deeper into the game.
If for any reason you aren’t satisfied with the results, feel free to edit the files of the mod yourself, it’s very light weight with only four total files.
