alternative combine vocoder
replaces all combine soldier voicelines (excluding death sounds and radio clicks) with new ones that use a vocoder effect inspired by the placeholder HECU lines that combine soldiers used for a brief period in hl2’s development (2003 i think.) i made this after i applied a vocoder effect to a combine soldier voiceline on accident using audacity and i liked the way it sounded.
for some reason one of the prison radio-comms voicelines wouldn’t let me apply the effect to it, so i instead decided to make it sound like creepy radio garbling with a strange tune in the background. i also cut off the radio static on certain prison radio-comms lines to give a cinematic effect but you can barely hear it during gameplay.
this is a relatively lower effort one compared to the stuff I usually do but I like the raspy effect it gives the combine soldiers so i figured i’d upload it. you can use this as a sort of hybrid of the 2003 and retail voicelines.
features and changes:
– different vocoder effect for the combine soldiers.
valve, for the original sounds.
me, for the edits and everything else.
