Description:

Diplomacy Revision

A submod designed for the overhaul mod Agony

Overview

Diplomacy Revision is a diplomacy-focused submod that restores, expands, and rebalances several diplomatic mechanics.

The goal of this project is to deepen campaign diplomacy, create more complex geopolitical scenarios, and provide players with meaningful strategic choices.

🔹 Main Features
✅ Vanilla Diplomacy Panel Restored

The full vanilla diplomacy interface has been restored.

All related information panels and details are once again visible and functional.

✅ Re-enabled Diplomatic Actions

“Send Informant” action restored.

One-time resource exchange deals reactivated.

These options provide additional strategic flexibility and tactical leverage in negotiations.

✅ Day & Night Campaign Cycle Restored

The Day/Night cycle has been reintroduced into the campaign map for added immersion and atmosphere.

🔹 AI & Diplomacy Rebalance
🤖 Campaign AI Adjustments

Modified AI priorities when choosing diplomatic actions.

Adjusted acceptance values for diplomatic proposals.

Diplomatic negotiations should now feel more dynamic and less predictable.

🔹Treaty & Reliability Rebalance
📜 Treaty Relationship Values

Reworked relationship bonuses and penalties tied to treaties.

Adjusted effect durations, following Agony’s time scale where:
1 year = 6 turns

Examples
Forced inheritance is now harder to obtain. However, once achieved, it has stronger and longer-lasting diplomatic consequences.
It is now possible to propose peace in exchange for breaking alliances or treaties, creating new strategic negotiation paths.

🔹 Betrayal & Reliability Rework

The effects and durations of betrayal-related actions have also been rebalanced:

Issuing an ultimatum is now less punishing to faction reliability.

Breaking certain treaties prematurely is now more severely penalized, both in value and duration.

The intention is to create a more coherent and strategically meaningful reliability system, where calculated diplomacy is rewarded and reckless treaty-breaking has lasting consequences.

🔹 Campaign Experience

After extensive testing, this submod appears to generate:

More intricate diplomatic webs

Unusual and emergent political situations

Greater long-term strategic tension

The diplomatic landscape should now evolve in more nuanced and sometimes unexpected ways.

🔹 Compatibility & Load Order
⚠ Load Order Requirement

This submod must be placed above the main Agony mod in your load order.

🔹 Compatibility Notice

Currently tested as compatible only with the graphical mods suggested by Agony.

Compatibility with other mods that modify diplomacy values or diplomatic mechanics is not guaranteed.

If you are using additional diplomacy overhaul or balance mods, conflicts are very likely.

🔹 Known Bugs

The “Adopt into Dynasty” button may display negative acceptance values in the diplomacy preview. However, when actually proposing the action, the values are calculated correctly and appear positive.

Resource icons in faction panels may appear slightly misaligned.

These are minor UI issues and do not affect the underlying functionality of the mod.

🔹 Important Notes

War and peace proposal base values remain unchanged from Agony, as they are already excellently balanced.

Special thanks to Ganossa for the outstanding work on the original overhaul.

🔹 Work in Progress & Feedback

This is my first mod, and since Creative Assembly does not officially provide detailed documentation on editable diplomacy values, this project required significant testing and experimentation.

I plan to continue updating and refining the mod.
Constructive feedback is highly appreciated and will help improve future versions.

🎮 Enjoy the campaign — and may your diplomacy be as sharp as your blades.
