Proper "Temp" Combine Monitors
One particular Combine prop started really bugging me after I’d noticed a problem with it, that being combine_monitor001temp.mdl.
As you can see right in the model name, it is marked as a temporary prop, and I can’t blame anybody at Valve for not noticing any problems with it, because they’re so minuscule… I noticed, though.
After exploring this same monitor design in great detail within HL:A, and went to compare it to the HL2 one, I had realized that it was set up to display images in the same exact way that the Breencasts do – with stacked holographic screens, but for some bizarre reason each of the three planes within the stack is just a metal texture!
So, I went in, made a new material for the base screen and replaced the metal texture on the small screens with it as well.
There. Now it’s working properly.
