Heraldry Enhanced
This mod consists of the most comprehensive revision of the default coat of arms displayed in the game (provinces, duchies, kingdoms, empires, mercenaries, orders, etc…). Over 2700 coat of arms have been either replaced or modified (no other mod comes even closer), all while abiding by the following principles:
- Compatibility: this mod doesn’t edit the coat of arms’ frame or the ingame coat of arms editor, as to maintain a substantial degree of compatibility with mods operating on those (e.g. Patrum Scuta and many others).
- Improved historical accuracy: CK2 doesn’t change a coat of arms based on the game timeframe, meaning that a single coat of arms has to be chosen to represent a specific province/duchy/kingdom/empire during the whole timeline. Thus, by design, historical accuracy can only be approximated. Despite this, the selection in this mod has been accurately edited to provide an appropriate representation in all the game’s ages.
- Thematic consistency: when historic accuracy cannot properly be met, a thematic consistency in motif and style with a specific geographical area is prioritized instead (mostly noticeable in regions outside of Europe).
- Uniqueness preservation: repetitions in the coat of arms’ pool is avoided to the utmost extent; as of now not two coats are the same.
- Ironman compatibility: fully compatible.
Can I use this mod in conjunction with Patrum Scuta or similar?
Yes, as stated in the "Compatibility" section.
Where do these coat of arms come from?
In part from WappenWiki, Wikipedia, EUV, or various other sites (both often heavily modified), while many are typically custom made by me.
Can I use the content of your mod in my mod?
Yeah, go ahead. Would be nice if you remember to credit me and the mod.
